The refurbishment in Nelikulma, a massive brick building in the old Vallila, designed by Jussi and Toivo Paatela in the 1920’s, has been done using as much natural materials as possible. The surfaces are covered by tadelakt, an ancient Moroccan lime technique, which means “to massage”. The surface has been literally “massaged” and polished entirely by hand using a small stone.
