HEI Schools Jätkäsaari kindergarten is based on the winning entry of a site allocation competition, organized by the city of Helsinki, in collaboration with Mer Architects and Masu Planning.

Our priority was to design healthy, inspiring and beautiful kindergarten spaces. The exterior walls are Wienerberger’s environmentally friendly and sustainable 500mm thick clay blocks, without any extra insulation. Windows are made of solid wood, placed at child’s eye height, and floors are natural uncoated cork. Outside the children will play in a sunny courtyard designed by LOCI landscape architects.

Hei Schools (Helsinki International Schools) is an international pre school concept based on Finnish high quality early childhood education. Creativity, learning social-emotional skills and the research-based concept are at the heart of the concept which has been created together with the University of Helsinki.

HEI Schools space design and consept received two gold awards and a Grand Prix at “Vuoden huiput – best Finnish creative design” competition in 2018.
